This hand-knotted Zanafi style rug was handwoven by Mina. Mina is part of a women-only association and specializes in this mixed weaving technique.
Her pieces are super unique as she uses the hand-knotted section to tell a beautiful story of color & symbolism.
Mina wove this rug using live wool. While the border of the rug uses natural, undyed wool, the hand-knotted portion of the rug uses beets, nuts, alfalfa, saffron, and indigo. The split designed middle captures both the geometric and abstract symbols that are so often represented in weaving designs.
